Pictures of My Career

BEARCATS, NO SWIPING

(JEANC WINNER)

This is great example of anticipating a play and setting up to capture the event beforehand, in this scenario there was a baserunner with speed on second, so I anticipated a steal attempt and set up in a strategic spot to capture that event.

CONTRAST CELEBRATIONS

A great example of storytelling in a photo, with Carlmont's Josh Lisi celebrating after a goal, with Mountain View's Luc Bortolato watching on. A few minutes later, Bortolato would score the game-tying goal.

UNMASKING VIGILANTISM

This photo was for my feature article regarding the popularity of vigilantism as a film genre, and I thought there was no better representation than the Amazing Spider-Man. For the backdrop of this photo, I printed out historical photos that I mentioned in my feature to be direct causes of the rise of vigilantism film.

BIG BATS AND HEAD PATS

For this game, I was able to secure permission with the umpiring crew to photograph the game from on the field, bringing me noticeably closer to the action. Due to this, I was ready to get into position to perfectly capture the emotions following a home run.

LEAVING IT ALL ON THE LINE

For this photo, I was able to setup on the sideline of the soccer pitch and capture a great action shot of Carlmont's Hayes Gaboury fighting to keep possession of the ball

ROID RAGE

This was a photo that took days to get perfect, as there were many visual variables such as the reflection of the table, the types of pills I would use, the type of camera, and most importantly, I had to be careful on what kind of message I was implying with my feature photo.

READY PLAYER 11

The best part of being able to photograph on the field of play is that I can be exceptionally close to the players during their at-bats and their pre at-bat routines. Thanks to this advantage, this game was filled with great pictures.

FIVE NIGHTS AT MONTY'S

Like other still feature photos, this photo took multiple days to get right, as the lighting was very difficult to get right in a dark office without much natural lighting. I tried to aim for a bit of an ominous vibe, and the angle of the shot as well as Monty's intense eye contact create almost a Five Nights at Freddy's vibe.

PREPARE FOR LIFTOFF

I've learned that basketball is a sport of almost non-stop action, so making sure that I don't take any plays off is crucial to getting the best possible shots, and there are not going to be a lot of opportunities for do-overs if you miss an opportunity.
